Ashley Weisman

MD

Councillor

Ashley Kochanek Weisman is a rural-academic ER doc. She completed her undergraduate degree at Yale, medical degree at Harvard Medical School, residency in the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency, and fellowship in wilderness medicine and rural health leadership at Massachusetts General Hospital. She loves every sort of emergency medicine practice and has worked in busy community ERs, tertiary academic centers, rural critical access hospitals, and remote arctic village clinics throughout her career. She currently practices rural, community, and academic EM in the University of Vermont Health system and serves as the assistant medical director for the emergency department at the amazing Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, NY.  Her career goal is to improve rural emergency care by expanding exposure to rural EM for residents and students, designing educational and operational solutions to support rural teams, and building bridges between the “outside hospital” and the “inside hospital”. Her life goal is to link rural ER shifts with family mountain adventures. When she is not working, she can be found hiking, paddling, skiing, and climbing with her family.
